American Pie graced the silver screen back in 1999, over 10 years ago. It brought us the story of four teenage boys in Michigan who set up a pact to lose their respective virginities by prom night. ”To the next step” they called it. Over the years we’ve seen two sequels, one after college and then a wedding. Guess what, we’re getting a third sequel. I just came across the teaser trailer for American Pie: Reunion currently slated for release on 6 April 2012. I’m feeling pretty nostalgic about this film. I was in high school when the first movie came out and I totally related. Now I’m actually having my 10 year reunion really soon too. Interesting …
In just the teaser trailer (watch after the break) all we get is a bunch of photo booth style photos of the cast they’re brining back. It seems that they got everyone back but Shannon Elizabeth (though she’s noted in the IMDb credits). That means we get to see Jim, Michelle, Stifler, Finch, Oz, Vicky, Heather, Stifler’s Mom, Jim’s dad and more. This could be great if well done and could prove to be very funny. Enough time has past (9 years) since the last mainstream American Pie movie that the series hasn’t been overdone. The movie is written by Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg of Harold and Kumar fame. Take that for what it’s worth, amongst my friends the Harold and Kumar movies can be very polarizing.
